BASE DEFENCE COURSE PARTICIPANTS TRIUMPH IN OBSTACLE CHALLENGE

MUARA NAVAL BASE, Thursday, 01 August 2024 - The Basic Base Defence Course Series 01/2024 for Officers and Other Ranks concluded the Obstacle Challenge, an intensive 8km exercise designed to test and assess leadership, command, and control capabilities. Participants navigated through a demanding course, demonstrating their ability to effectively manage and maneuver under pressure. This rigorous exercise was instrumental in evaluating the leadership skills, physical and strategic skills of the officers and other ranks involved.

The course participants were tested with 7 different missions including establishing communications, log carry, sandbag carry, jerry can carry and knowledge on deception in warfare. 

The objective of this Obstacle Challenge is to assess the course participants leadership skills, physical fitness and mental fortitude where they had to endure 8-kilometre route consisting of challenges testing their knowledge and strength that they have gained throughout the course. The primary goal of these challenges is to push the boundaries of participants' leadership skills and enhance the spirit of teamwork within their sections. Additionally, the exercises are designed to prepare them for their final evaluation in the following week.

Section 1 emerged as the winner of the Obstacle Challenge 2024. The champion’s trophy was awarded to the winning team by Lieutenant Commander Mohd Akhmal bin Mohd Akbal.
