KDB DARUTTAQWA AND KDB AFIAT RETURNS TO MUARA NAVAL BASE, BRUNEI AFTER ASEAN FLEET REVIEW AND ASEAN MULTILATERAL NAVAL EXERCISE 2/2023

MUARA NAVAL BASE, Friday, 19 May 2023 – KDB DARUTTAQWA and KDB AFIAT has safely completed a 12-day deployment to Subic Bay, Philippines to participate in the ASEAN FLEET REVIEW (AFR) 2023 and the ASEAN MULTILATERAL NAVAL EXERCISE (AMNEX) 2/2023. KDB DARUTTAQWA and KDB AFIAT was received by Acting Commander Royal Brunei Navy (RBN) Captain Haji Mohamad Sarif Pudin bin Matserudin, RBN, with a homecoming ceremony where the deployed officers and crew disembarked the ship and made sujud syukur as a mark of gratefulness to Allah SWT for their safe return. The ceremony continued with Doa Selamat and Doa Kesyukuran.

Led by Commander Malek Fadillah bin Pehin Juragan Laila Diraja Dato Seri Pahlawan Haji Kefli, RBN, Commanding Officer onboard KDB DARUTTAQWA and Lieutenant Commander Mohd Husaini bin Hj Mohd Sofian, RBN, Commanding Officer of KDB AFIAT, both ships has demonstrated their operational capabilities, emergency response capabilities as well as interoperability with other ASEAN navies during the sea phase of AMNEX 2/2023. Meanwhile their participation in the AFR signifies RBN's show of commitment in becoming a formidable maritime partner in the region.

The safe return of the vessels is a testament to the Royal Brunei Navy's (RBN) commitment to maintaining a modern, capable and professional navy. The RBN's participation in AMNEX 2/2023, working along-side other navies highlights its readiness and commitment to contribute to regional security and stability.
