MUARA NAVAL BASE, Wednesday, 14 May 2025 – The Royal Brunei Navy (RBN) had the honour of hosting an official visit by His Excellency Lieutenant General Domingos Raul “Falur Rate Laek”, Chief of Defence Force of FALINTIL-Forças de Defesa de Timor Leste (FALINTIL-FDTL), as part of his official engagements with the Ministry of Defence and Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF).

His Excellency was officially welcomed by Commander of the Royal Brunei Navy, Captain Sahibul Bahari bin Zainal Abidin, RBN, along with members of the RBN Executive Committee at the RBN Headquarters. The visit commenced with the ceremonial signing of the parchment and a group photo session, symbolizing the goodwill between both defence forces.

The official programme continued with a comprehensive briefing on Brunei Darussalam’s Perspective on Maritime Security at the RBN Headquarters Meeting Room. His Excellency then visited KDB DARULAMAN, one of the RBN’s Darussalam-class offshore patrol vessels, to gain further insights into the operational capabilities of the Royal Brunei Navy.

A notable highlight of the visit was the arrival of the Yang Mulia Brigadier General (U) Dato Seri Pahlawan Mohd Sharif bin Dato Paduka Haji Ibrahim, Deputy Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (DCDF RBAF), after which both DCDF RBAF and the Chief of Defence Force of FALINTIL-Forças de Defesa de Timor Leste proceeded onboard KDB DARULAMAN. The visit culminated in a luncheon hosted by the Commander of the RBN onboard the ship.

The visit provided an opportunity for both sides to explore avenues for enhancing professional military relations, particularly in the maritime domain.
