SOUTH MIRAH WHARF, SURABAYA, REPUBLIC OF INDONESIA, Friday, 23 November 2024 – The Royal Brunei Navy (RBN) vessels KDB DARULAMAN and KDB SYAFAAT, alongside the Indonesian Navy (TNI-AL) vessels KRI FRANS KAISIEPO and KRI TOMBAK have concluded Exercise HELANG LAUT 21B/2024 sea phase with the closing ceremony held today at Majapahit Lounge, Second Fleet Command. The ceremony celebrated the successful completion of various maneouvers and training activities during the exercise.
The guest of honour of the ceremony was First Admiral Hreesang Wisanggeni, Commander of the Maritime Security Force and representing RBN was Captain Sahibul Bahari bin Haji Zainal Abidin, RBN, Fleet Commander of RBN. It was highlighted that this joint naval exercise was significant in facilitating the exchange of skills and knowledge and consequently enhancing joint military interoperability and cooperation in ensuring regional security.
As part of the community relation activity, the presentation of donations comprised hundred (100) copies of the Holy Al-Quran and eight (8) rolls of prayer mats contributed by the RBN and University Islam Sharif Ali (UNISSA) were handed over to Tatok Andrianto, Dinas Administrasi Personel, Komando Armada II, as a gesture of goodwill.
Other than the tour visit to Jalesveva Jayamahe Monument, the Fleet Commander of RBN and the crew of KDB DARULAMAN and KDB SYAFAAT also took a solemn moment to visit the KRI NANGGALA Memorial Monument, paying heartfelt tribute to the brave sailors who tragically lost their lives in the 2021 submarine incident. This visit reflects the deep respect and solidarity shared between the two navies, honouring the sacrifice and courage of those who served.
The successful execution of Exercise HELANG LAUT 21B/2024 is expected to lead to further joint training initiatives and enhanced maritime partnerships. Both navies are committed to continuing their efforts to improve naval readiness and cooperation in future exercises.
