The Royal Brunei Navy and Philippine Navy successfully completed Maritime Training Activity SEAGULL 09/2024

Muara Naval Base, Monday, 7 October 2024 - The Royal Brunei Navy (RBN) and Philippine Navy (PN) successfully concluded Maritime Training Activity SEAGULL 09/2024, held from 7th to 11th October 2024. This bilateral exercise aimed to enhance cooperation and interoperability between the two navies, reaffirming their shared commitment to regional security and stability.

The arrival of BRP ANDRES BONIFACIO (PS-17) marked the beginning of the exercise, which featured a range of activities including operational planning, discussions, and the Naval Surface Action Group’s (NAVSAG) workshop focusing on Visit, Board, Search, and Seizure (VBSS) operations. Collaboration extended to Unmanned Aerial Surveillance (UAS), underscoring the modernized approaches both navies are taking toward maritime security.

Alongside tactical exercises, a courtesy call was made by the Head of the Philippine Navy delegation to the Acting Commander RBN and RBN Fleet Commander. The event also included a curry lunch and a reception, fostering stronger relationships and operational partnerships through exchanges and community engagement. Participants also enjoyed professional exchanges and sports events, further promoting camaraderie and synergy between both forces.


MTA SEAGULL 09/2024 demonstrates the strong commitment from both navies to continue enhancing defense relations and building on mutual cooperation, interoperability, and understanding.
