MONDAY, 19 AUGUST 2024 , MUARA NAVAL BASE – KDB DARUSSALAM and KDB DARULAMAN has returned to home following a highly successful deployment of participating in the largest multi-lateral maritime exercise, 29th Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) that spanned for over 77 days. The exercises were conducted in Hawaii, United States of America (USA) from 27 June 2024 - 02 August 2024. The exercise was joined by a total of 40 ships including three submarines, over 150 aircrafts and 25,000 personnel from 29 nations.
Present at the Royal Brunei Navy (RBN) Jetty to welcome KDB DARUSSALAM and KDB DARULAMAN's officers and crew was the Acting Commander of RBN, Captain Haji Mohd Sarif Pudin bin Matserudin, RBN. Along with the Acting Commander were senior officers, officers and the families of the ships’ crew. The arrival of KDB DARUSSALAM and KDB DARULAMAN commenced with the recital of Doa Selamat and Sujud Syukur followed by the welcoming remarks by the Acting Commander of Royal Brunei Navy.
KDB DARUSSALAM and KDB DARULAMAN participated in the RIMPAC 2024 exercise in Hawaii, focusing on building partnerships and strengthening maritime safety and security. Before the exercise, the RBN ships participated in SEAGS and MNGS with other Southeast Asian navies. During the exercise, the RBN conducted various drills, including communications, screenplay, gunnery, and manoeuvring drills. The ships also attended briefings, symposiums, workshops, and sports activities.
The highlight of the exercise was the SINKEX, where the RBN ships fired surface-to-surface missiles. The RBN also participated in PHOTOEX and other warfare, maritime operation, and live-firing training. Despite being away from home, the RBN officers and crew celebrated Eid Al Adha, Hijrah's Eve, the RBN anniversary, and His Majesty's birthday. Upon returning, they held a Khatam Al-Quran event to bless the deployment. This deployment marks a significant milestone for the RBN in establishing itself as a reliable maritime partner in the region.
