SINGAPORE, Thursday, 08 August 2024 – The Fleet Commander of the Royal Brunei Navy (RBN), Captain Sahibul Bahari bin Haji Zainal Abidin, RBN, recently held a three-day working visit to the Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN).
The visit commenced at the Naval Diving Unit (NDU) in Sembawang Naval Base, where RBN FC was welcomed by the RSN Fleet Commander, Rear Admiral Kwan Hon Chung, and the Commander of the NDU, Colonel Francis Goh. The visit entailed a tour of the NDU’s training facilities, including the hyperbaric chamber, the specially designed diving training pool, and the obstacle courses training areas.
The second leg of the visit took place at the Maritime Training and Doctrine Centre (MTDC) in RSS Singapura, Changi Naval Base. Upon arrival, Captain Sahibul Bahari was received by the RSN FC and the Deputy Commander of the Maritime Security Command (MARSEC), Colonel Michael Chan. The visit entailed a tour of the Naval Warfare Simulation Centre to observe the conduct of Exercise PELICAN.
A courtesy call was also held to RSN’s Chief of Navy (CNV), Rear Admiral Sean Wat. Both parties expressed a strong commitment to deepening these ties and fostering further development in these key areas.
The working visit was held in tandem with the conduct of Exercise PELICAN 42/24, where FC also presented his closing remarks during the closing ceremony, emphasising the importance of rehearsing traditional warfare procedures and maintaining operational readiness through comprehensive simulator exercises, underscoring the vital role such exercises play in ensuring the continued effectiveness and preparedness of naval forces.
