INDIAN NAVY SHIP (INS) KILTAN GOODWILL VISIT TO NEGARA BRUNEI DARUSSALAM

MUARA, Saturday, 28 May 2024— Recently, the Royal Brunei Navy (RBN) welcomed the Indian Naval Ship (INS) KILTAN on its goodwill visit to Negara Brunei Darussalam from 25 May to 28 May 2024. The visit underscores the commitment of both the Indian Navy and the Royal Brunei Navy to fostering stronger bilateral relations. It provided an invaluable opportunity for the exchange of best practices and the strengthening of inter-personal ties.


During its stay, INS KILTAN participated in activities to promote camaraderie and understanding between the two navies. The visit commenced with a ship reception on board INS KILTAN, marking the beginning of this significant visit. The ship reception was hosted by Mr. SDK Menon, Charge d’Affaires ad interim to Brunei Darussalam & Commander Ashwin Padiyar, Commanding Officer INS KILTAN. Also in attendance was Captain Haji Sarif Pudin bin Matserudin, the Acting Commander of the Royal Brunei Navy as the Guest of Honour.

Throughout the goodwill visit, the Commanding Officer of INS KILTAN paid courtesy calls to the Commanding Officer of KDB DARULEHSAN, Lieutenant Commander Awg Mohd Zulyamin bin Awg Mohd Noor, RBN and the Fleet Commander of the Royal Brunei Navy, Captain Sahibul Bahari bin Haji Zainal Abidin, RBN. 

The RBN personnel also had the opportunity to visit INS KILTAN, where they learned about its capabilities and the life of its crew, further enhancing mutual understanding and cooperation. The crew of INS KILTAN had a tour around the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) Museum, gaining valuable insights into the history and development of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces. Furthermore, In the spirit of fostering teamwork and building relationships, a friendly volleyball match was organised, promoting physical fitness and mutual respect among the personnel of both navies. Marking the end of the Goodwill Visit, INS KILTAN conducted a passage exercise with KDB DARULEHSAN.
