CHANGI NAVAL BASE – Recently, Lieutenant Muhammad Abqari bin Haji Emran of the Royal Brunei Navy (RBN) has successfully concluded a one-year assignment as the International Liaison Officer (ILO) at the Information Fusion Centre (IFC), Singapore.
Serving from April 2024, Lt. Abqari represented Brunei Darussalam in one of the region’s key maritime security hubs, working alongside officers from over 20 countries. His role involved real-time monitoring and analysis of maritime security incidents, contributing to timely reporting and regional coordination.
During his tenure, he actively participated in several major exercises and forums, including SEACAT 2024, the 47th Shared Awareness Meeting, and the 18th ASEAN Navy Chiefs’ Meeting. He also served as Brunei’s liaison officer to the Regional Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief Coordination Centre (RHCC), furt9her contributing to regional crisis response efforts.
His involvement reflects Brunei’s continued commitment to international maritime collaboration and regional stability. The RBN remains dedicated to supporting cooperative security initiatives and strengthening defence diplomacy through active participation in multinational platforms like the IFC.
