ROYAL BRUNEI NAVY AND VIETNAM PEOPLE'S NAVY HOLD 3RD NAVY-TO-NAVY TALKS

HAI PHONG, REPUBLIC SOCIALIST OF VIETNAM,  Thursday, 26 December 2024 - The Royal Brunei Navy (RBN), led by Fleet Commander Captain Sahibul Bahari Hj Zainal Abidin, RBN, successfully participated in the 3rd Navy-to-Navy Talks with the Vietnam People's Navy (VPN). This engagement marks a significant milestone in strengthening bilateral defence relations and fostering maritime cooperation between the two navies.

The NTNT discussions centred on shared maritime security priorities, enhancing collaborative efforts, and reviewing the outcomes of past engagements. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to advancing defence diplomacy and building operational interoperability to support regional maritime stability and cooperation. The talks concluded with signing the meeting minutes, symbolising a shared vision for continued cooperation. A ceremonial exchange of gifts further underscored the strong partnership and mutual respect between the two navies.

Vice Admiral Tran Ngoc Quyet, Deputy Chief of Staff of VPN, represented the Vietnam People's Navy and emphasised Vietnam’s steadfast commitment to strengthening regional maritime security. Captain Sahibul Bahari also paid a courtesy call to Rear Admiral Pham Nhu Xuan, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the VPN, during which both leaders exchanged views on regional security developments and reaffirmed the importance of maritime stability.

The 4th Navy-to-Navy Talks are tentatively scheduled to be hosted in Brunei Darussalam in 2026. The Royal Brunei Navy remains committed to fostering strong partnerships with regional and international counterparts to uphold maritime security and contribute to collective peace and prosperity.
