MUARA, Friday, 13 December 2024 – The closing ceremony for the Intermediate Navigation Officer Course (INOC) Serial 02/2024 was held at Nakhoda Ragam Hall, Naval Training Centre, where five (05) Royal Brunei Navy Fleet Executives were awarded certificates for the successful completion of the rigorous course. Attending as the Guest of Honour was the Acting Fleet Commander, Commander Sonny Iskandar bin Rasani, RBN. Also in attendance were the Commanding Officers of participating ships, fleet officers, course instructors, and administrative personnel.
The 7-week course, which began on 28 October 2024, is only the second iteration of its kind. This year’s course was particularly enriching as participants undertook practical assessments during a deployment onboard KDB DARULAMAN around Borneo Island from 12 to 29 November 2024 and participated in the Exercise HELANG LAUT Serial 22/2024.
The event began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah followed by a speech delivered by 1518 Lt JG Muhammad Saires bin Serungi, RBN, representing the course participants. He emphasised how mastering navigation tools and technologies essential for safe maritime operations enabled participants to develop precision, adaptability, and teamwork—qualities vital for a competent navigation officer.
The ceremony continued with the presentation of certificates to the participants, followed by a token of appreciation presented to the Guest of Honour. A video presentation showcasing the participants’ journey was shared, and the event concluded with the recitation of Doa and a group photo session with distinguished guests and instructors.
The successful completion of the Intermediate Navigation Officer Course marks a significant milestone in the professional development of these officers. It reflects the Royal Brunei Navy's ongoing commitment to cultivating a highly skilled cadre of naval professionals capable of meeting the challenges of modern maritime operations, whether at sea or ashore.
