MUARA NAVAL BASE, WEDNESDAY, 18 SEPTEMBER 2024 – The Royal Brunei Navy (RBN) hosted a productive Symposium on Marine Environment Subject Matter Expert Exchange (SMEE) with the Indo-Pacific Endeavour 2024 delegation. The event held at the Naval Training Centre is part of a key initiative between the Royal Australian Navy (RAN) and Brunei’s Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) to enhance maritime cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region.
Key representatives from Brunei’s maritime community, including the National Maritime Coordination Centre, Maritime and Port Authority, and Poni Divers, participated in discussions on protecting Brunei’s maritime domain, safeguarding its marine environment and ensuring the sustainable use of natural resources.
Commander Sonny Iskandar bin Rasani, Acting Fleet Commander of the Royal Brunei Navy, served as the senior representative for the RBN. The Indo-Pacific Endeavour delegation was led by Commodore Michael John Harris, Commander of Indo-Pacific Endeavour 2024. This engagement underscores the Royal Brunei Navy’s commitment to regional stability and environmental management.
