ROYAL BRUNEI NAVY AND REPUBLIC OF SINGAPORE NAVY CONCLUDED EXERCISE PELICAN 42/24

NAVAL WARGAMING & SIMULATION CENTRE (NWSC), RSS SINGAPURA, Thursday, 8th August 2024 – Exercise Pelican 42/2024 concluded successfully after five days of rigorous training and collaboration. Held from 5th to 8th August 2024 at RSS Singapura, Changi Naval Base, Singapore, the exercise was organised by the Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN). This year's edition brought together Command teams from the Royal Brunei Navy's (RBN) KDB AS-SIDDIQ and KDB AL-FARUQ, alongside their RSN counterparts from MSRV Protector and RSS Tenacious.  

The opening ceremony for Exercise Pelican 42/2024 was held on Monday, 5th August 2024, and was officiated by Major Victor Sim Boon Heng, RSN, Commanding Officer of RSS Protector and as the Commander Task Group (CTG) for the exercise. He was joined by Lieutenant Commander Pengiran Haji Khairul Anwar Pengiran Haji Abu Bakar, RBN, Commanding Officer of KDB AL-FARUQ as the Deputy Commander Task Group (DCTG). 
The 42nd iteration of Exercise Pelican featured professional and domain sharing from both counterparts, combined planning sessions, culminating in the Warfare Exercise (WAREX). Upon commencement of exercise, participants began with system familirisation of the Naval Tactical Trainer (NTT) and demonstrations by RSS Protector on Towing Exercise (TowEx) and Replenishment at Sea (RAS). The exercise also featured sharing sessions, where both navies shared their knowledge on warfare domains. The exercise culminated in the WAREX, where participants conducted Anti Surface Warfare (AsuW) and Anti Air Warfare (AAW) scenarios at the NTT. 
The closing ceremony for Exercise Pelican 42/2024 was held on Thursday, 8th August 2024, at the NWSC Auditorium, RSS Singapura and was co-officiated by RBN Fleet Commander, Captain Sahibul Bahari bin Haji Zainal Abidin, RBN, and, Rear Admiral Kwan Hon Chuong, RSN Fleet Commander. During their closing remarks, RSN FC took the opportunity to congratulate RBN for their recent successful missile firing during RIMPAC 24. 
The successful conduct of this bilateral exercise further consolidates both navies’ commitment to enhancing operational readiness, maritime defense capabilities, and interoperability.
