ACTING COMMANDER RBN ATTENDED LIMA 23

​LANGKAWI, MALAYSIA Wednesday, 24 May 2023 – The Opening Ceremony for the Langkawi International Maritime Aerospace Exhibition 2023 (LIMA '23) took place on Tuesday 23rd May 2023 at the Mahsuri International Exhibition Centre (MIEC) Langkawi, Malaysia. The opening of LIMA 2023, themed, “The Nexus of Asia's Maritime and Aerospace Trade" was officiated by the Most Honourable Dato' Seri Utama Haji Mohammad bin Haji Hasan, Defence Minister of Malaysia. Attending on behalf of the Royal Brunei Navy (RBN) was the Acting Commander of RBN, Captain Haji Mohammad Sarif Pudin bin Matserudin, RBN accompanied by Commander Shahairil bin Hj Mohd Shahlan, RBN, Lieutenant Commander Abdul Aiman bin Hj Abdul Rahman, RBN and Lieutenant Junior Grade Awg Muhd Bakhit bin Awg Hj Mohammed, RBN.

A total of 20 Chiefs of Navies and representatives attended key activities in support of LIMA '23, which includes the Chief of Navy Roundtable Talks (CNRT), Maritime Demonstration and Fleet Review. The CNRT, themed “Future of Naval Technology in Changing Security Landscape", underlined some key features of the importance of future naval technology utilising unmanned platforms in providing maritime security in the present day context. 

KDB DARULEHSAN was amongst the 40 ships participating in the Fleet Review consist of 14 Foreign vessel, 20 RMN ships, and 6 Malaysian Other Agencies which was witnessed by the Prime Minister of Malaysia, Yang Amat Berhormat Dato' Seri Anwar bin Ibrahim and all invited Chief of Navies. Maritime demonstration consist of capability demonstration and hostage rescue operation, participated by asset which was held with the assistance of other seven agencies including Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN), Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM), Custom Department, Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA), the fisheries Department, Fire and rescue department and the Malaysian Marine Department.

Acting Commander RBN also had the opportunity for a bilateral meeting with the Chief of Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN), Admiral Datuk Abdul Rahman bin Ayob and the United States Navy (USN) Pacific Fleet Commander, Admiral Samuel Paparo.
