MUARA, Monday, 27 March 2023 – JS SUZUTSUKI of the Japan Maritime Self Defence Force (JMSDF) departed Muara after a goodwill visit to Brunei Darussalam from 24 to 26 March 2023 led by Captain Takahiro Iigatani, Commander of Escort Division 8, JMSDF.
JS SUZUTSUKI was received with a welcoming ceremony by the Royal Brunei Navy (RBN) as they arrived in Muara Commercial Wharf on 24 March 2023 led by Commander Md Zouhdy bin Hj Abdul Razak, RBN, Commanding Officer of the Naval Training Centre, who was invited onboard JS SUZUTSUKI with other RBN officers present where they had an interaction session and exchanged mementos in conjunction with the goodwill visit. RBN personnel also had the opportunity to visit JS SUZUTSUKI during their open ship on 25 March 2023 involving 20 RBN officers and ratings.
This interaction represents the cordial defence and security relations between both RBN and JMSDF established through years of engagement at sea and through multilateral events. The RBN reaffirms its commitment to strengthen its bilateral relations with JMSDF, enhancing interoperability towards the goal of cooperation at sea and wishes JS SUZUTSUKI a smooth journey to her next port of call.
