ROYAL BRUNEI NAVY 57TH ANNIVERSARY PARADE CELEBRATION

MUARA, Tuesday, 14 June 2022 – The Royal Brunei Navy (RBN) commemorates its 57th Anniversary today with a Parade Ceremony held at the RBN Parade Square led by Lieutenant Commander Mohammad Hasmin bin Haji Hashim, RBN.

Present as the Guest of Honour was First Admiral Dato Seri Pahlawan Spry bin Haji Serudi @ Haji Seruji, Commander RBN.  In commemorating the 57th Anniversary, Commander RBN gave an address highlighting the Navy's imperative yet challenging duty of maintaining peace and prosperity as well as the territorial integrity of Brunei's maritime domain. Furthermore, Commander RBN also reminded all levels of leadership of critical leadership values and to lead by example so that others may follow.

During the parade, select RBN officers and sailors were awarded for their achievements and professionalism in their careers; these include the presentation of the 'Principal Warfare Officer' badge given to Lieutenant Commander Mohammad Husaini bin Haji Mohd Sofian, RBN and Lieutenant Commander Mohammad Shahrul Idham bin Haji Bungsu, RBN. The Fast Patrol Vessel Commanding Officer's certificate was awarded to Lieutenant Commander Mohammad Nabil bin Jalil, RBN and Lieutenant Commander Nazurah binti Haji Mahaleh, RBN. The Landing Craft Coxswain's certificate was awarded to Warrant Officer 2 Shahirul Affendy bin Mohammad Rakawi, RBN, Warrant Officer 2 Addey Affendy bin Ali Hussin, RBN, and Warrant Officer 2 Mohammad Sopian bin Abdul Rahman, RBN. 14 RBN officers were also awarded the 'Officer of the Watch Certificate' signifying their competence in taking control of RBN ships at sea as an Officer of the Watch.

Other awards include the Sauh Emas award given to Warrant Officer 2 Mohammad Ariwan bin Mohammad, RBN, whilst Able Rate Muhammad Arifshahdan bin Matzainin, RBN received the Bintang Harapan award. The Best Engineer was awarded to Lieutenant Ak Abdul Rauf Bahar bin Pg Haji Yusof, RBN and Warrant Officer 2 Alihan bin Haji Puteh, RBN. Lieutenant Junior Grade Nabilah Sa'adatul Hayat binti Shamsul Hayat, RBN was also awarded the 'Rules of the Road Master' award for achieving excellent scores in the monthly examinations on the Rules of the Road.   

Awards were also given to the Best Male and Female Athletes commending their outstanding fitness capabilities. Recipients of the Best Male Athletes consist of Lieutenant Wan Izz Zafir Alawi bin Mohammad Kassim, RBN, and Able Rate Haji Syaza Naqiuddin bin Haji Nafiah, RBN. The Best Female Atheletes consist of Lieutenant Junior Grade Dk Nur Amrina binti Pg Abdul Aziz, RBN, and Ordinary Rate Noorsuriani binti Rusman, RBN.

The event was further blessed with a recitation of Doa Selamat by Ustaz Mas Ismandi bin Hassan, RBN Religious Teacher and concluded with a group photo on the parade square.

A series of events have been conducted in conjunction with RBN's 57th Anniversary such as the cleaning campaign at Islamic cemeteries, donations to former RBN members, religious ceremonies including Tahlil at the Royal Brunei Mausoleum, Khatam Al-Quran ceremony, and Doa Kesyukuran. More events will continue to be conducted in commemoration of the 57th Anniversary including Mess dinners in all the messes of the RBN, a blood donation campaign, and an Office Open Day at year end.
