ROYAL BRUNEI NAVY CONDUCTS INFORMATION SHARING SESSION WITH ROYAL CANADIAN NAVY VIA VIDEO TELECONFERENCING

MUARA, Friday, 26 March 2021 – The Royal Brunei Navy conducted an information sharing session with the Royal Canadian Navy via Video Teleconferencing. RBN broadcasted the video teleconference from the Multi-National Coordination Centre (MNCC), Muara Naval Base whereas RCN held theirs onboard HMCS CALGARY, when it was docking in and berthed at the Muara Commercial Wharf.

Present at the MNCC was Her Excellency Jeanette Stovel, the High Commissioner of Canada in Brunei Darussalam and Commander Khairil bin Abd Rahman, Fleet Commander RBN. Meanwhile, HMCS CALGARY was represented by Commander Mark O'Donohue, the Commanding Officer of HMCS CALGARY. Also present was Colonel Andrew Cleveland, the Defence Attaché of Canada, non-resident Defence Attaché accredited to Brunei Darussalam, broadcasting from Jakarta, Indonesia.

The session entailed an information and knowledge exchange on the respective navies. RBN's brief titled, "DARUSSALAM Class Patrol Vessel" was delivered by Lieutenant Commander Mohamad Husaini bin Haji Mohamad, Principal Warfare Officer of KDB DARUSSALAM. RCN's brief, on the other hand, was titled "Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief" and was delivered by Lieutenant(N) Anne Day, the Above Water Warfare Officer of HMCS CALGARY. The information sharing session was concluded with a presentation titled "Shipboard Integration Navigation Display System" by Lieutenant(N) Evan Park, the Navigation Officer of HMCS CALGARY.

HMCS CALGARY is in Brunei Darussalam from 26 – 28 March. Upon her departure, she will conduct Passage Exercise (PASSEX) with KDB DARUSSALAM.

The last interaction between RBN and RCN was in 2013, when HMCS ALGONQUIN and HMCS PROTECTEUR made a port visit to Brunei Darussalam.
