CLOSING CEREMONY MARKS SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF SUB-LIEUTENANT COURSE 2025

MUARA, FRIDAY, 18 APRIL 2025 - The Sub-Lieutenant Course (SLC) 2025 held their closing ceremony at the Nakhoda Hall, Naval Training Centre (NTC) for 11 young officers including 4 international officers from the Indonesian Navy, Royal Malaysian Navy, the Philippine Navy, and the Republic of Singapore Navy.

The SLC 2025 was successfully carried out by the Naval Training Centre in collaboration with Brunei Engineering, Logistics and Training Solution (BELTS) over a 14-week period. The course covered key subjects including navigation, communications, basic warfare, as well as fire fighting and damage control. It was designed to train young officers in safe ship navigation, preparing them to serve as Officers of the Watch (OOW) onboard, while also enhancing their professionalism and competence in carrying out both coastal and ocean passage planning.

Present as the ceremony as the Guest of Honour was the Acting Fleet Chief of Staff of RBN, Commander Ade Roddiane bin Hj Mohd Rosdi, RBN. Also in presence was the Defence Attaché of Indonesia to Brunei Darussalam, Defence Advisor of Malaysia to Brunei Darussalam, Defense Attaché of The Republic of the Philippines, Defence Adviser of Republic of Singapore to Brunei Darussalam, RBN Fleet Officers, NTC Officers and Instructors and BELTS management and personnel.

The event begin with the recitation of the opening Doa followed by a speech from BELTS Senior Instructor, Commander (R) Hj Suhailee bin Pungut, expressing that the instructors were pleased with the way participants collaborated effectively throughout the course. Their teamwork reflected their progress and ultimately led to all participants successfully completing the course.

Afterwards, Sub Lieutenant Muhamad Muharam Hafizal bin Md Tahir, RMN, delivered his speech as an SLC 2025. representative. In his heartfelt remarks, he shared his appreciation and reflections on the journey throughout the course. He encouraged the officers to embrace lifelong learning as a core value in their careers and to continue striving toward meaningful contributions that will benefit future generations.

After the speech, the Guest of Honour proceeded to present certificates to the course participants to mark the end of their course. The event then concluded with the recitation of doa and followed by group photos.
