MUARA, Friday, 31 January 2025 – The Royal Brunei Navy (RBN) held the closing ceremony for the Maritime Operations Course (MAROPS) Serial 07/2024 at Nakhoda Ragam Hall, Naval Training Centre. The event marked the successful completion of the intensive course by ten RBN officers, who were awarded certificates of completion.
The Chief of Staff, Commander Sonny Iskandar bin Rasani, RBN, graced the ceremony as the Guest of Honour. Also in attendance were senior officers from participating departments, directing staff, and invited guests.
The ceremony began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah by an RBN religious teacher, followed by a speech from 1223 Lieutenant Irza binti Tuah, RBN, representing the course participants. She highlighted the significance of the course in equipping officers with the necessary knowledge and competencies to progress in their careers, particularly in preparation for the rank of Lieutenant Commander.
The event continued with the presentation of certificates by the Guest of Honour and concluded with the recitation of Doa and a group photo session with distinguished guests and instructors.
The eight-week course, which commenced on 2 December 2024, focused on enhancing participants’ skills in maritime operational planning through scenario-based training. The curriculum provided a comprehensive understanding of operational processes, emphasizing critical areas such as threat assessments and resource management in order to develop effective operational orders.
The successful completion of the Maritime Operations Course underscores the Royal Brunei Navy’s commitment to developing a highly skilled and operationally ready force. By equipping officers with the expertise required to navigate the complexities of modern maritime operations, the course plays a vital role in strengthening the navy’s overall readiness and effectiveness.
