MUARA NAVAL BASE, TUESDAY, 12 NOVEMBER 2024 – KDB DARULAMAN and KDB SYAFAAT set sail for a 17-day deployment from Muara Naval Base to Dermaga Jamrud, Surabaya, Indonesia, for the upcoming bilateral EXERCISE HELANG LAUT 21B/2024 with the Indonesian Navy (Tentara Nasional Indonesia – Angkatan Laut / TNI-AL). The exercise is scheduled to take place from 17th to 23rd November 2024.
The deployment is led by Commander Ade Roddiane bin Haji Mohd Rosdi RBN, the Commanding Officer of KDB DARULAMAN, accompanied by 84 personnel, while KDB SYAFAAT is led by Lieutenant Commander Nazurah binti Haji Mahaleh, RBN, with 31 personnel. The team consists of the ship's officers and crew, along with attachment personnel, including Intermediate Navigation Officers Course (INOC) participants, a medical officer, religious personnel, and Naval Surface Action Group (NAVSAG) members.
The send-off ceremony was graced by the presence of Captain Haji Mohamad Sarif Pudin bin Matserudin RBN, Acting Commander of the Royal Brunei Navy as the Guest of Honour. Also in attendance were RBN’s Executive Board members, officers, personnel, and family members. The ceremony began with a recitation of Doa Selamat by Muhammad Sabqi bin Nasar, RBN Religious Teacher, followed by farewell addresses from the Guest of Honour and family members.
EXERCISE HELANG LAUT aims to enhance the capabilities of both navies, provide training opportunities, and promote strategic relations between the two navies. It also serves as a valuable learning platform for INOC participants during their deployment in foreign waters. This year, the exercise includes several interactive programs, such as courtesy calls, professional exchanges, a cocktail reception, and the HELANG LAUT Cup sports interactions.
