MUARA, Wednesday, 26 June 2024 – The Royal Brunei Navy (RBN) Mariners Club held a dinner celebrating RBN's 59th Anniversary at Dewan Samudera, Muara Naval Base.
Warrant Officer 1 Irwan bin Haji Bungsu, Acting Navy Sergeant Major, attended as the Guest of Honour and was welcomed by Leading Hand Abdul Qawiy bin Haji Juhari, Deputy President of the Mess Committee (DPMC), Royal Brunei Navy Mariners Club. A total of 150 sailors from the Royal Brunei Navy attended the event, including the Acting Navy Sergeant Major, DPMC Mariners Club, and other RBN Junior Rates. The event began with a photo session, followed by a speech from Warrant Officer 1 Irwan bin Haji Bungsu.
In his speech, the Navy Sergeant Major emphasised maintaining good work ethics, such as having a positive attitude towards assigned tasks. He highlighted the four core values of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces: Piety, Courage, Professionalism, and Loyalty. He stressed the importance of integrity in all duties and reminded junior personnel to always pray for Allah's blessings, as divine plans are ultimately the best. He advised against violating regulations and wished everyone a Happy 59th Anniversary of the Royal Brunei Navy.
The ceremony included a cake-cutting session and concluded with the recitation of Doa Selamat led by Leading Hand Sheikh Hj Md Nasrul Naim bin Sheikh Hj Ahmad.
