RBN SHIPS SAIL FOR RIM OF THE PACIFIC 2024 EXERCISE

MUARA, Tuesday, 04 June 2024 – KDB DARUSSALAM and KDB DARULAMAN, led by Lieutenant Commander Haji Mohammad Arnold bin Haji Osman, RBN, and Commander Ade Roddiane bin Hj Mohd Rosdi, RBN, respectively, embarked on a 77-day deployment to participate in Exercise Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) in Hawaii, USA.

Present at the departure ceremony at the Royal Brunei Navy (RBN) Jetty Bravo was Captain Haji Mohamad Sarif Pudin bin Matserudin, the Acting Commander of RBN as the Guest of Honor, along with RBN officers, ratings, and the families of the deploying 149 personnel.

A day prior to the departure, a Sunat Hajat prayer was held at Surau Al-Huda, attended by the Acting Commander of RBN and other Muslim personnel from RBN. The prayer sought blessings for the safe journey and return of both ships.

Exercise RIMPAC is the world’s largest multilateral maritime exercise, held biennially and hosted by the Commander of the United States Pacific Fleet (COMPACFLT). RIMPAC 2024 is led by the Commander of the US Third Fleet, Vice Admiral Michael Boyle. It aims to enhance interoperability and strengthen maritime partnerships. RIMPAC 2024 includes 18 countries, 40 surface vessels, four submarines, and various aircraft, focusing on live-firing training, maritime intercept operations, and warfare exercises.

RBN’s participation in RIMPAC from 2014 to 2024 highlights its commitment as a steadfast maritime partner in the Pacific region.
