KDB DARULEHSAN SAFELY ARRIVES AT BATAM PORT, REPUBLIC OF INDONESIA FOR THE ASEAN SOLIDARITY EXERCISE – 01 NATUNA (ASEX-01N)


BATAM PORT, REPUBLIC OF INDONESIA, Tuesday, 19th September 2023 – KDB DARULEHSAN of the Royal Brunei Navy (RBN) has arrived safely at Batam Port, Republic of Indonesia at 18th September 2023 to participate in the inauguration of the ASEAN Solidarity Exercise – 01 Natuna (ASEX-01N) hosted by Tentara Nasional Indonesia (TNI) which will be held at Natuna Island, Republic of Indonesia from 18th to 23rd September 2023. 

On 19th September 2023, the opening ceremony for ASEX-01N was officiated by Admiral Yudo Margono, Panglima TNI as the guest of honour. In attendance for Brunei Darussalam was Lieutenant Colonel Pengiran Aeddie Masjaffrie bin Pengiran Haji Md Jaafar, Defence Attaché of Brunei Darussalam to Republic of Indonesia, the Commanding Officer, the officers and crew of KDB DARULEHSAN. Also in attendance were Chiefs of Defence Forces of Malaysia and Republic of Singapore as well as representatives from other ASEAN countries. 

Ships participating in this exercise under the maritime security segment are KDB DARULEHSAN, KRI JOHN LIE and KRI RADJIMAN WEDYODININGRAT (Republic of Indonesia), RSS VIGOUR (Republic of Singapore), and KD TERENGGANU (Malaysia).  Meanwhile, countries from Cambodia, Lao PDR, Myanmar, Timor Leste, Phillippines, Thailand and Vietnam have sent their observers to participate in the exercise under the maritime security segment and Humanitarian and Disaster Relief segment respectively. Upon completion of the opening ceremony, the entourage attended a sharing session on Subject Matter Expert Exchanges (SMEE) at Radisson Hotel, Batam and concurrently, Operation officers from respective participants for the sea phase attended the Operations discussion which was held at the Main Naval Base-4, Batam.
