RBN PARTICIPATES IN THE 17TH ASEAN NAVY CHIEFS’ STAFF MEETING IN MANILA, PHILIPPINES

TAGUIG CITY, PHILIPPINES, Tuesday, 24 January 2023 – The Philippine Navy (PN) hosted the 17th ASEAN Navy Chiefs' Staff Meeting at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Taguig, Manila, Philippines. The meeting was chaired by Chief of Naval Staff (CNS), Rear Admiral Jose Ma Ambrosio Ezpeleta, Philippine Navy. The objective of the staff meeting was for coordination purposes for the upcoming 17th ANCM proper this coming May.

A welcoming address by the Chairman signaled the commencement of the staff meeting followed by several discussions pertaining to regional maritime security issues as well as opportunities for naval cooperation. The theme of the 17th ANCM is Synergy at Sea: Regional Cohesion for Peace and Stability. The meeting also entailed discussions on future activities including the ANCM Road Map 2024 – 2032, an initiative led by the Indonesian Navy and the ANCM Guidelines for Maritime Interaction (GMI) Workshop 2022 led by the Philippine Navy which promulgates clarity in communication during encounters at sea.

The RBN delegation was led by Commander Malai Haszahrin bin Malai Yusoff, RBN and accompanied by Lieutenant Commander Najihah binti Haji Abdul Hisab, RBN and Lieutenant Junior Grade Warhamni binti Bohari, RBN.

The 17th ANCM will be on 8 – 12 May 2023 in Manila, Philippines.
