AUSTRALIA, 11 December 2022 – Two (02) officers from the Royal Brunei Navy, Lieutenant Commander Wan Abdul Naafi bin Metussin, RBN and Lieutenant Commander Pg Khairul Anwar bin Pg Dr. Hj Abu Bakar, RBN along with four (04) officers from the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) and Ministry of Defence attended the OBOE Endeavour Academic Excellence programme from 05 to 11 December 2022 in Australia.
The programme includes engagement with the Australian Senior Leadership, participation in roundtable discussions with mid-level tri-service officers, Joint Ops Command, Australian Defence Policy and the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade. The participants also had the opportunity to make educational and cultural tour such as visit to the Australian Parliament House, Victoria Barracks, HMAS Waterhen, and the Australian War Memorial where they observed and participated in wreath laying during the Last Post Ceremony.
The programme was a highly rewarding experience where participating officers observed the Australian Defence organisation, and gained comprehensive understanding and knowledge of strategic thinking on various issues related to regional security and stability. This rich information has certainly equipped them with valuable inputs and critical perspectives.
The OBOE Endeavour Academic Excellence is an annual programme awarded to the RBAF Command and Staff participants who have achieved outstanding results during the course.
