ROYAL BRUNEI NAVY PARTICIPATE FIRST COORDINATION MEETING (FCM) 17th WESTERN PACIFIC NAVAL SYMPOSIUM (WPNS) WORKSHOP 2021 VIA VIDEO TELECONFERENCE

MUARA, Wednesday 18 August 2021 - Royal Brunei Navy (RBN) delegation led by Commander Azrin bin Mahmud, Acting Fleet Chief of Staff, RBN participated in the First Coordination Meeting (FCM) for 17th Western Pacific Naval Symposium (WPNS) Workshop 2021 via Video Teleconference (VTC) broadcasted at Naval Research Centre (NRC), Muara.

The Coordination Meeting discussed on the issues related to the Memberships Application of Fiji, Adoption of the Business Charter Amendments, Adoption of the Code for Unplanned Encounters at Sea (CUES) and Adoption of the CUES Working Group Term of Reference (TOR) and finally the discussion on WPNS future activities.

The WPNS aims to increase cooperation and the ability to operate together, as well as to build trust and confidence between navies by providing a framework to enable the discussion of maritime issues of mutual interest, the exchange of information, the practice and demonstration of capabilities, and the exchange of personnel.

A total of 17 countries participated with 5 countries as observers participate in the FCM WPNS Workshop 2021. The 17th Western Pacific Naval Symposium (WPNS) Workshop 2021 will be held on 26th – 27th October 2021 via VTC.
