COMMANDANT NAVAL TRAINING CHANGE OF COMMAND CEREMONY

MUARA, Friday, 4 December 2020- The handing over ceremony of Commandant Naval Training (CNT) between the outgoing CNT Commander Khairil bin Haji Abdul Rahman and the newly appointed CNT, Commander Willie bin Padan was held today at the Naval Training Centre.

The ceremony begins with an honorary salute to outgoing Commandant followed by an inspection of the parade. In his departing speech, Commander Khairil expressed gratitude to the officers and men of NTC for their efforts and support over the two and half years that he has held command.

The ceremony then proceeded with the signing of the Handing Over Certificate, which officially marked the change of command. As a symbolic gesture, the outgoing Commandant handed over the Commandant's Staff.

To signify the new duty placement, the incoming Commandant was next to receive the honorary salute and inspected the parade. Delivering his inaugural remarks as CNT, Commander Willie first gave acknowledgement and congratulations to Commander Khairil's appointment as the new Fleet Commander, before expressing his appreciation and recognizing his as well as NTC's achievements.

Highlighting manpower as a consequential element in those achievements, Commander Willie further stressed that it will remain integral in ensuring NTC's continued success over the upcoming years. As a relevant example of such success, the incoming Commandant noted that whilst the world is still coping with COVID-19, Brunei Darussalam has managed to continuously overcome the odds. This has allowed for organizations as well as institutions to resume operations with certain restrictions at that.
