HMS COLLINGWOOD, UNITED KINGDOM, Wednesday, 20 November 2024 - Lieutenant Commander Afifi Antin of the Royal Brunei Navy has successfully completed the International Principal Warfare Officer ‘A’ Course 2024 (IPWOA 24/01) at HMS Collingwood, one of the United Kingdom’s premier naval academies.
The IPWOA course was conducted by the International Commonwealth Training Unit (ICTU), part of the Maritime Warfare School at HMS Collingwood. He underwent seven months of intensive naval warfare training alongside four other naval officers from the Chilean Navy, Royal Malaysian Navy, Republic of Singapore Navy, and Polish Navy.
The course aimed to equip participants with advanced naval warfighting knowledge and skills, including expertise in maritime tactical estimates to support effective tactical planning. These capabilities were further honed through Classroom-Based Simulator Trainer—International (CBSTI) sessions, which allowed participants to apply theoretical knowledge in realistic naval scenarios and operations onboard simulation ships.
This comprehensive training program provided a strong foundation for modern naval warfare, enhancing the participants' ability to lead and operate as Principal Warfare Officers (PWOs) in complex maritime environments.
