April 2021 – First Admiral Spry bin Haji Serudi @ Haji Seruji, Commander of Royal Brunei Navy (RBN) received an introductory call from His Excellency John Leonard Pencavel Virgoe, the High Commissioner of British to Brunei Darussalam at RBN Headquarters.
During the call, the Commander of RBN expressed his pleasure for the warm and friendly bilateral defence relations between the two countries. Despite the challenges presented by COVID-19, both sides have actively participated in exercise and training, showing that both navies have the common interest in further strengthening Royal Brunei Navy – Royal Navy (RBN – RN) relationship. The discussions during the courtesy call also touched on loan service and development of training between both navies.
After the introductory call, His Excellency had the opportunity to visit KDB DARULEHSAN.
The friendly relations between the UK and Brunei have flourished well beyond defence ties, and shared an interconnected history that dates back to the establishment of diplomatic relations in January 1979.
