MUARASunday, 23 October 2022 - USS CHARLESTON, an INDEPENDENCE-class Littoral Combat Ship of the United States Navy (USN) has arrived this morning at the Muara Commercial Port led by Commander Clayton Beas, Commanding Officer of USS CHARLESTON. This follows the arrival of USNS BRUNSWICK on Friday, 21st October 2022, a SPEARHEAD-Class expeditionary Fast Transport vessel in service with the United States Navy’s Military Sealift command.

Present to receive and welcome the ship were representatives from the Joint Force Headquarters and the Royal Brunei Navy’s Fleet. This visit is aimed at continuing the long-established bilateral relations that exist between Brunei Darussalam and the United States of America. Both countries will conduct the Cooperation, Afloat Readiness And Training (CARAT) Exercise from the 24h of November till the 31st of November.

CARAT is an annual exercise consisting of a series of bilateral training evolutions between the US Indo-Pacific Fleet and the Royal Brunei Armed Forces. This year’s exercise will focus on building professional knowledge and cooperative training from both parties including exchanges on naval operations.
