MUARA, Monday, 4 December 2023 – Captain Haji Mohamad Sarif Pudin bin Matserudin, the Acting Commander of the Royal Brunei Navy (RBN), received a significant series of calls, marking both an introductory meeting with the incoming Defence Attaché of Canada and a farewell call to the outgoing Defence Attaché.

                   

The introductory call welcomed Captain (N) Hugues Canuel, who will assume the role of Defence Attache of Canada accredited to Brunei Darussalam. Captain Haji Mohamad Sarif Pudin bin Matserudin expressed enthusiasm for the cooperation that the new Defence Attaché will bring to further strengthen the ties between Brunei and Canada.

 

At the same time, the Acting Commander bid farewell to Colonel Stewart Taylor, acknowledging and expressing gratitude for the significant contributions made during his tenure. The outgoing Defence Attaché played a vital role in enhancing the diplomatic and defence relations between Canada and Brunei.

 

During both calls, discussions encompassed a range of topics, including ongoing and potential future collaborations, maritime security, and shared interests in defence matters. The Acting Commander emphasized the commitment of the Royal Brunei Navy to fostering enduring partnerships with international counterparts.

 

The Acting Commander presented tokens of appreciation to both Defence Attachés, symbolizing the gratitude and goodwill between the Royal Brunei Navy and the Canadian Defence Attaché Office.
