BRUNEI DARUSSALAM, Friday, 11 November 2022 – The closing ceremony for the 9th ASEAN Navy Young Officer Interaction (ANYOI) was conducted at the Rizqun International Hotel last night on 10 November 2022. The 9th ANYOI was hosted by the Royal Brunei Navy (RBN) from 7-11 November 2022 with a total of 20 delegates consisting of junior officers from ASEAN navies and representatives including Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Viet Nam.

During the closing ceremony, the Guest of Honour, Captain Haji Sarif Pudin bin Matserudin, Acting RBN Commander presented his closing remarks where he highlighted the importance of taking the opportunity to build lasting friendship amongst ASEAN Navies. He also expressed hopes that the participants would maintain their network as they progress through their careers as it represents the core of relationship building between the organisations they represent.

The Guest of Honour proceeded to present each participant with a memento to commemorate the 9th ANYOI as a lasting memory of their time in Brunei where they shared with each other during the seminar, and interacted through a day trip in the Temburong district and through a series of cultural visits around Bandar Seri Begawan and the RBAF Museum at the Ministry of Defence.

RBN’s hosting of the 9th ANYOI represents RBN’s continued support to the ASEAN Navy Chiefs’ Meeting (ANCM) agenda and the commitments towards enhancing regional cooperation by providing a platform to build people-to-people relationships amongst the future leaders of ASEAN Navies.
