MUARA, Thursday, 01 November 2018 – Royal Brunei Navy (RBN) received the homecoming of KDB DARUTTAQWA after six-week deployment participating in a number of maritime exercises and engagements at various locations around the regions of Southeast Asia. Present to welcome back the ship’s company was Deputy Commander of RBN, Captain Haji Othman bin Haji Suhaili@Suhaily, RBN. Also present to receive KDB DARUTTAQWA were senior officers, officers and RBN personnel, as well as families of those on deployment.
KDB DARUTTAQWA sailed to the Republic of Philippines for Maritime Training Activity (MTA) SEAGULL 08/18 conducted with Philippine Navy (PN). She then proceeded to Da Nang, the Socialist Republic of Vietnam for a goodwill visit before proceeding to Jeju Island, South Korea for the International Fleet Review (IFR), hosted by the Republic of Korean Navy (ROKN) in conjunction with its 70th Anniversary of Republic of Korea Armed Forces. KDB DARUTTAQWA then proceeded to Zhanjiang, People’s Republic of China to participate in the ASEAN-China Maritime Exercise (ACMEX) hosted by People’s Liberation Army Navy, China. The deployment ended with Exercise PELICAN 37/18, a bilateral exercise conducted with Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN).
The deployment was commanded by Commander Md Azrin bin Hj Mahmud, RBN, with a total complement of 73 personnel. The deployment marks a significant milestone in RBN’s trajectory in asserting herself as a competent and reliable maritime partner on both bilateral and multi-lateral platforms.
