MUARA, Sunday, 23June 2019 – Royal Brunei Navy (RBN) welcomed the arrival of Japan Maritime Self Defence Force (JMSDF) JS IZUMO, JS MURASAME and JS AKEBONO as a goodwill visit to Brunei Darussalam beginning on Sunday, 23 June 2019 until Wednesday, 26 June 2019.
Upon arrival of the JMSDF’s ships, Rear Admiral Hiroshi Egawa, Head of Delegation, greeted by RBN Acting Fleet Commander, Captain Norshahrinizam bin Haji Talib and other RBN senior officers. Rear Admiral Hiroshi gave a goodwill speech and continued the event by hosting a ship tour and lunch onboard JS MURASAME.
Throughout the goodwill visit, Rear Admiral Hiroshi Egawa is expecting to have a courtesy call to the Commander of the Royal Brunei Navy (RBN), First Admiral Haji Othman bin Haji Suhaili @ Suhaily, RBN. Both sides will discuss on the cooperation for further enhancement between the two navies.
JS MURASAME is also will be hosting an onboard reception lead by Rear Admiral Admiral Hiroshi and the First Admiral Haji Othman bin Haji Suhaili @ Suhaily, Commander of RBN as the Guest of Honour. The onboard reception will be attended by senior officers and officers from Ministry of Defence (MINDEF), Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF), RBN, foreign ambassadors and officers from Japanese-owned companies based in Brunei.
JS IZUMO, JS MURASAME and JS AKEBONO is anticipated to participate in professional exchange and community service during their visit in Brunei Darussalam. This will be provide the avenue for both naval personnel to share experiences and knowledge as well as to foster friendship and esprit de corps. Passage Exercise (PASSEX) between the JMSDF ships with KDB DARUTTAQWA is scheduled to be held prior to their next port of call.
