MUARA, Monday, 21 January 2019 – The Royal Brunei Navy (RBN) welcomed the arrival of HMS ARGYLL, Royal Navy (RN) on 21 January 2019, that is currently visiting Brunei Darussalam until 24 January 2019. The ship is commanded by Commander Toby Shaughnessy, RN, and carries 205 crew onboard. Before entering Muara Commercial Wharf, HMS ARGYLL also conducted Passage Exercise with KDB DARULAMAN.
During the goodwill visit, Commander Toby Shaughnessy, RN, the Commanding Officer of HMS ARGYLL called on the Deputy Commander of the Royal Brunei Navy (RBN), Captain Haji Othman bin Haji Suhaili @ Suhaily, RBN. Both sides discussed opportunities for further enhancement of the bilateral relationship between the two navies.
HMS ARGYLL held an onboard reception hosted by His Excellency Richard Lindsay, British High Commissioner to Brunei. Present as the Guest of Honour was First Admiral Pengiran Dato Seri Pahlawan Norazmi bin Pengiran Haji Muhammad, Commander of RBN. Also present during the reception were senior officers and officers of the Ministry of Defence and Royal Brunei Armed Forces.
While in Brunei Darussalam, HMS ARGYLL participated in various activities including professional exchanges and sport interactions where both naval personnel had opportunities to share experiences and knowledge as well as, to foster friendship and camaraderie.
The last visit to Brunei Darussalam by the RN was by HMS ALBION in September 2018.
