MUARA, Friday, 5 January 2024 – The New Year Parade was held by the Royal Brunei Navy (RBN) at the RBN Parade Square to officially mark the beginning of the new year. Present as the guest of honour was Captain Hj Mohamad Sarif Pudin bin Matserudin, Acting Commander of RBN.
The event began with the arrival of the Acting Commander of the Royal Brunei Navy. The parade was attended by senior officers, officers, seniors rates and junior rates of the RBN, and included marching contingents.
The event commenced with a speech by the Acting Commander of RBN, in which he mentioned that the successes throughout the year 2023 would not have been achieved without the relentless efforts, high discipline, and team spirit of the members of the Royal Brunei Navy (RBN). He also expressed gratitude and pride for the attitude of the Royal Brunei Navy (RBN) personnel, who consistently demonstrate high commitment in performing their duties and responsibilities, as well as upholding the good name of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) in general and the RBN in particular. He urged all members of the Royal Brunei Navy to reflect on the Royal Address by His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam during the celebration of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces Diamond Jubilee, which stated: “It is, therefore, crucial for the RBAF to have quality members who embody the four (4) core values of the RBAF, namely Professionalism, Loyalty, Courage, and Piety.” He also hoped the lesson from the past year 2023 is that every individual realizes the importance of cooperation and support for one another. He stated that RBN should move as one family, one team advancing or progressing at the same pace to balance every development in achieving sustained maximum capability.
The Acting Commander concluded his speech by extending his New Year greetings to all personnel and their families and urging everyone to continue working with dedication and pride and prayed to Allah SWT to preserve the nation of Brunei Darussalam to continually enjoy peace and prosperity.
The event was further blessed with a recitation of Doa Selamat by Ustaz Mas Ismandi bin Hassan, RBN Religious Teacher. This event marked the beginning of a new year and symbolized the Navy’s continued commitment to excellence, discipline, and service to the nation.
