MUARA, Friday, 14 June 2019 – Royal Brunei Navy (RBN) commemorates its 54th Anniversary today by holding a
Doa Kesyukuran Ceremony held at the Surau Al-Huda, RBN.  Present as the Guest of Honour was First Admiral Haji Othman bin Haji Suhaili @ Suhaily, Commander of RBN.

The ensuing event was a Parade Ceremony held at the RBN Parade Square with a total of 455 RBN personnel involved in the parade led by Lieutenant Commander Ade Roddiane bin Hj Mohd Rosdi, RBN

Commander of RBN, in his speech pledged on RBN’s undivided loyalty to His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah Ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Negara Brunei Darussalam. He highlighted three significant topic areas that need to be enhanced and implemented by the RBN continuously. These include on the need of fleet operational preparedness, the importance on RBN’s capacity building and quality development and active cooperation with related agencies especially pertaining to security of the country. Towards the end of his speech, he urged for RBN to keep on working together in delivering tasks and responsibilities given that aligned with RBN’s vision to deliver a robust, responsive and resource-efficient navy. 

The event continue with awards and certificates presentation to qualified RBN young officers. Officer of the Watch Certificate was awarded to four young officers namely 1147 Lieutenant Junior Grade Ahmad Nafees bin Haji Kamsani, 1221 Lieutenant Junior Grade Md Rafiuddin bin Maidin, 1146 Lieutenant Junior Grade Muhd Farasul Wa’ie bin Wadi and 1183 Lieutenant Junior Grade Awangku Md Fadhil bin Pengiran Haji Ali. The event also seen the presentation on the Rules of the Road Master Award to 1185 Lieutenant Junior Grade Mohd Ikhwan bin Hj Junaidi. Commander of RBN also presented The Promising Engineer awards to 1014 Lieutenant Junior Grade Haji Marjidi bin Haji Abd Rahman and 13574 Chief Petty Officer Hilham bin Mohd Ibrahim, Marine Engineer personnel whom exhibited outstanding performance on technical work aspects to RBN.

Other awards and certificates were also granted to non-commissioned officers whom were recognized for their personal achievements based on professionalism, leadership and work contributions towards RBN.
Sauh Emas Award was given to 15059 Chief Petty Officer Suryadi bin Haji Suhaili and
Bintang Harapan was awarded to 18825 Leading Hand Awangku Mohammad Al-Amin bin Pengiran Haji Aliudddin. Meanwhile, the best male athlete was  awarded to 14050 Chief Petty Officer Pengiran Shamseer Ariffin bin Pengiran Haji Mohd Said. The athlete award were presented for recognizing RBN personnel for their active participations and contributions towards sport activities and events at the level of the RBN, Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF), Ministry or Nationally.   

The event was by then blessed with a recitation of
Doa Selamat by Ustaz Rafiuddin bin Haji Md Ali , RBN Religious Teacher. The anniversary ceremony was also continued with
Majlis Ramah Mesra in conjunction with this year’s Hari Raya Aidilfitri and an Anniversary Cake Cutting Ceremony commemorating the RBN’s 54th Anniversary at the Warrant Officer, Chief Petty Officer and Petty Officer Mess, RBN.

A Recitaton of Surah Yassin and Tahlil for Al-Mahrum Sultan Haji Omar Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien Ibni Sultan Muhamad Jamalul Alam Dan Al-Marhumah Duli Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Damit binti Pengiran Bendahara Pengiran Anak Abdul Rahman at Kubah Makam Diraja, Bandar Seri Begawan, was also held yesterday, Thursday, 13 June 2019 in conjunction with the anniversary.
