28-29 October 2018 – The Royal Brunei Navy (RBN) and the Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN) concluded their two-days bilateral exercise from 28 – 29 October 2018, code-named Exercise PELICAN 37/18. The objective of the exercise was to enhance interoperability between both navies as well as to foster good working relationship through the practice of standard operating procedures.
The opening ceremony of Exercise PELICAN 37/18 was officiated by Commander Mohammad Azrin bin Hj Mahmud, RBN, Command Task Group (CTG) 95.1. His opening remarks stated that Exercise PELICAN is at its 37th iteration ever since the first conduct in 1979, in which is a testament to the relationship and mutual cooperation. In addition, it will continue to enhance interoperability, naval professionalism and camaraderie between both navies.
Two ships participated; KDB DARUTTAQWA (09) from RBN and RSS STALWART (72) from RSN. This year’s bilateral exercise focuses on enhancing interoperability through maneuvering exercises, exchange of voice procedures and communications training with reference to the Code for Unplanned Encounters at Sea (CUES) publication and standard operation procedures.
Exercise PELICAN 37/18 was concluded with the closing ceremony by CTG 95.1. He further mentioned that the exercise was conducted safely and successfully achieving a high standard of quality. He praised the commitment, professionalism and determination of both navies.
