MUARA NAVAL BASE, TUESDAY, 04 JULY 2023 – The qualifying and semi-finals stage of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces’ (RBAF) Tug of War Championship 2022/2023 was conducted over two days, from 3rd July 2023 to 4th July 2023, at the Royal Brunei Navy Mini Stadium, Muara Naval Base. The tournament was officiated by the chairman of the event, Lieutenant Commander Mohd Husaini Bin Hj Md Sofian, RBN. Two categories were contested, namely the heavyweight and lightweight category, using the double knockout system. A total of 16 matches was held over the span of two days, with four teams emerging as finalists.
The semi-final match for the heavyweight category, saw the Royal Brunei Land Forces (RBLF), the Royal Brunei Navy (RBN), the Special Forces Regiment (SFR) and the Joint Forces (JF), in a competitive fight which ended with RBN and SFR teams qualifying for the final stage of the heavyweight category. The third place was won by the Royal Brunei Land Forces (RBLF) and the fourth place goes to the Joint Forces (JF).
On the other hand, the semi-final stage for the lightweight category consisted of the RBLF, RBN, the Royal Brunei Air Force (RBAirF) and SFR in which the RBLF and RBN teams proceeding to the final stage of the lightweight category. SFR won the third place, with RBAirF in fourth place.
The tournament objective is to maintain and dignify, the sport of tug-of-war among RBAF personnel, while promoting teamwork and strengthening friendships among RBAF units.
