BUSAN, REPUBLIC OF KOREA; 21 – 22 February 2019 – The 14th ASEAN Defence Ministers Meeting Plus Expert Working Group (ADMM Plus EWG) on Maritime Security Final Planning Conference (FPC) was held in Busan, Republic of Korea from the 21st to 22nd of February 2019 co-chaired by Rear Admiral Cheong Kwok Chien, Head of Naval Operation, Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN) and Rear Admiral Sung-Kyun Jeong, Second Deputy Director of Force Planning of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Republik of Korea Navy (ROKN). This year’s exercise series will be a continuation of the last 11st ADMM Plus EWG on MS Field Training Exercise (FTX) co-chaired by Brunei and New Zealand.
Representing Royal Brunei Navy was Commander Haji Edy Jofren bin PDP DP Haji Abdul Jalil, RBN, Commanding Officer KDB DARULEHSAN and Lieutenant Mohd Aiezuddin bin Julaini, RBN, Navigation Officer KDB DARULEHSAN.
The primary objectives of the exercise are to strengthen maritime security practical cooperation through a joint exercise with ADMM-Plus members, to strengthen shared awareness and coordination systems amongst participating countries in maritime security issues and to enhance military-to-military interoperability response to international maritime security issues. This year’s exercise will be divided into two Field Training Exercises (FTX), FTX 1 will be conducted on 29th and 2nd of May 2019 in Busan, followed by FTX 2 will be conducted in Transit in vicinity of Singapore leading towards Changi Naval Base, Republic of Singapore from 9th May until 11th May 2019.
