BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Sunday, 21 October 2018 – Royal Brunei Navy fleet officers participated in the World Maritime Day Charity Walk, Run and Cycle event organised by Brunei Gas Carriers (BGC) Sdn Bhd held at Taman Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddien (Taman SOAS). Present as the Guest of Honour of the event was Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Abdul Mutalib bin Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Setia Dato Paduka Hj Md Yusof, Minister of Communications.
World Maritime Day is celebrated annually on September 27, and this year’s theme is “International Maritime Organisation (IMO) 70: Our Heritage – Better Shipping for a Better Future”.
The event was held in conjunction with BGC’s 20th Anniversary, a collaboration with the Maritime and Port Authority of Brunei Darussalam (MPABD), supported by Ministry of Communications. All proceeds of the event will be donated to The Children’s Cancer Foundation (YASKA). RBN’s participation signifies the importance of interacting and connecting with other national agencies who also work in the maritime domain.
