BOLKIAH GARRISON, Friday, 16 November 2018 – The Royal Brunei Navy (RBN) band and the United States (U.S) Naval 7th Fleet Band, who were in Brunei Darussalam as part of the 24th Series of CARAT Exercise between Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) and U.S. Navy conducted Music Workshop and Class Demonstration at Concert Hall, RBAF Band, Bolkiah Garrison.
The professional military musicians shared their skills and knowledge with all the participants who present during the workshop. Also participating in the workshop were invited guests from other agencies such as Royal Brunei Police Band, Ministry of Culture Youth and Sports, Fire and Rescue Band, Radio Television Brunei and Prison Department Band.
This year’s workshop was coordinated by Band Officer of RBN, Lieutenant Junior Grade Nurul Hairani Binti Haji Abdul Hamid, RBN. The workshop was led by a speaker from the US 7th Fleet Navy Band, MU 1 Stephen Hux.
Varieties of topics were covered during the class demonstration such as Music Selection, Performance without Music Sheet, Audience Interaction Skills, Music Improvisation and Stage Management. The aim of this workshop and class is to explain the procedure of stage management during performance and to enhance professional skills related to performance, music and administration.
To wrap up the session, exchange mementos was presented between the speaker and Lieutenant Junior Grade Hafizuddin, RBN, Assistant Music Coordinator Officer for Music Workshop CARAT 2018.
