MUARA, Friday, 04 December 2020 – A closing ceremony for Naval Diving Course – Basic was held at Nakhoda Hall, Naval Training Centre (NTC), Royal Brunei Navy (RBN).

Present as the Guest of Honour was Commander Willie Mathias bin Padan, the newly appointed Commandant Naval Training. Also present at the ceremony was Commander Khairil bin Hj Abd Rahman, Fleet Commander RBN, RBN Officers, Senior Ratings and NTC Instructors.

The certificate presentations for Naval Diving Course – Basic 2020 participants was presented by Commander Khairil bin Hj Abd Rahman.

A total of 7 course participants completed the Naval Diving Course – Basic 2020 which includes 5 participants from Special Operation Squad, Royal Brunei Police Force.

The 7 weeks course comprised of three phases of intensive training. The ‘Pool Phase’ commenced during the first three weeks of the course entailed an introduction of the basics of underwater diving, searching procedures and emergency drills, as well as pool competency to prepare them for their next phase.

The second phase consists of training at sea, where course participants were trained on searching procedures, signals, compass diving and ship bottom inspections during the day and night. The third phase is known as ‘Operation Week’ is the main highlight where the course participants were tested to their mental and physical limits on everything they have learnt throughout the course.

The ceremony ended with a closing doa by LCpl 5698 Md Faeq bin Ismail and a group photo session.
