RIMBA AIR BASE, Friday, 26 October 2018 – The United States 7th Fleet P-8A MPRA flew to Brunei Darussalam to conduct an exercise with the Royal Brunei Navy (RBN) from the 24th to the 30th of October 2018.
One of the agenda in the program is MDA Demo Flight onboard the aircraft, also known as the P-8A Poseidon. The primary objective of the Demo Flight was to provide an insight to Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) personnel on how intelligence-gathering, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) duties are carried out during maritime operations. Furthermore, this event emphasised the long-standing bilateral relations and interoperability particularly between the United States Navy (USN) and the RBN as they discussed and witnessed the conduct of broad-area maritime and littoral operations.
Amongst the roles and capabilities of the P-8A Poseidon include humanitarian and search and rescue missions, long-range anti-submarine warfare as well as anti-surface warfare.
Following the MDA Demo Flight, all 7 RBAF personnel took a group photo with Patrol Squadron 47, otherwise known as ‘The Golden Swordsmen’ of the P-8A Poseidon.
