MUARA, Friday, 12 April 2019 - KDB DARUTTAQWA set sail this morning for deployment to Qingdao, People’s Republic of China, Busan, Republic of Korea and Changi, Republic of Singapore. The deployment is led by Commander Haji Edy Jofren bin Pehin Datu Penglima Colonel (Rtd) Dato Paduka Haji Abdul Jalil, RBN, Commanding Officer of KDB DARUTTAQWA.
This deployment comprises of KDB DARUTTAQWA’s participation in various events and exercises including a Multinational Naval Activities of the 70th Anniversary of the Founding of the PLA Navy, ASEAN Defence Ministers Meeting Plus Expert Working Group on Maritime Security Field Training Exercise 1 & 2 (ADMM-Plus EWG on MS FTX 1 & 2) and International Maritime Defence Exhibition (IMDEX) Asia 2019.
Present as the Guest of Honour was First Admiral Pengiran Dato Seri Pahlawan Norazmi bin Pengiran Haji Muhammad, the Commander of Royal Brunei Navy (RBN). Also present were senior officers, officers and personnel of RBN and family members.
This deployment marks a significant milestone in establishing RBN as a reliable maritime partner in the region on both bilateral and multilateral platforms. It is also noteworthy that a total of four other ranks are also joining the deployment. This marks a significant milestone for women in the RBN especially in the expanding the roles and opportunities for women in the organization. KDB DARUTTAQWA is scheduled to return to Muara Naval Base on 20 May 2019.
