DA GANG PORT, QINGDAO, PEOPLE’S REPUBLIC OF CHINA (PRC), Wednesday, 24 April 2019 – KDB DARUTTAQWA this evening hosted a deck reception onboard on the occasion of the 70th Anniversary of the Founding of the PLA Navy. Present during the reception was the guest of honour, His Excellency Vice Admiral Shen Jien Long, Commander In Chief of People’s Liberation Army (PLA) Navy. Hosting the deck reception was RBN Head of Delegation, Captain Pengiran Mohamad bin Pengiran Haji Damit, RBN together with the Commanding Officer.
During the reception, the guest of honour was invited for a cake cutting ceremony as a token of a warm congratulation on their anniversary. The men and women of KDB DARUTTAQWA had showcased our cultural heritage by performing a ‘Silat’ demonstration and the traditional dance accompanied by the ‘traditional Gulintangan’ music. The ship’s company also prepared samples of local cuisines specifically for the reception.
The reception was attended by approximately 300 people from the participating navy ships, that include personnel from PLA Navy, Australia, Malaysia, Republic of Singapore, Russia, Thailand, Vietnam and few local civilians. The event successfully went well with interaction between the crew and the other navy personnel by showing their hospitality.
