MUARA, Thursday, 27 April 2023 – KDB DARULEHSAN set sail to embark on a 14-day deployment to participate in the International Maritime Defence Exhibition (IMDEX) held in the Republic of Singapore and to participate in the inauguration of the ASEAN-India Maritime Exercise (AIME).
Present as the Guest of Honour during the send-off ceremony was Captain Haji Mohamad Sarif Pudin bin Matserudin, Acting Commander of the Royal Brunei Navy. Also present were senior officers, officers, personnel as well as family members. The ceremony began with a recitation of the Doa by Muhammad Sabqi bin Nasar, RBN Religious Teacher.
KDB DARULEHSAN is captained by Commander Saiful Hazril bin Ali, who will be leading the Brunei contingent comprising of 69 personnel including the ship’s officers, crew and attachments including the medical officer, religious personnel and Naval Surface Action Group (NAVSAG) personnel. The deployment serves as a conducive platform in providing officers and personnel training opportunities for their professional development as well as to network with other ASEAN Navies. The programme entails a wide-ranging activities such as workshops, operations discussions, professional exchanges, recreational and entertainment events as well as sports interactions.
IMDEX 2023 is expected to involve a total of 19 ships from various countries. RBN’s involvement signals an unwavering commitment in strengthening multilateral partnerships and contributing to the peace and stability in the maritime region. Furthermore, the RBN’s participation in AIME 2023 is a testament to supporting ASEAN centrality and interactions with ASEAN dialogue partners.
