KDB DARULEHSAN, Thursday, 6th July 2023 - KDB DARULEHSAN conducted a Handing Over and Taking Over (HOTO) ceremony to mark the transition of command between its outgoing and incoming Commanding Officers (CO). The event held aboard the ship, began with the colours ceremony on the flight deck of KDB DARULEHSAN involving all officers and ratings. Following the colours ceremony, the ceremony continued with the Officer of the Day reporting to the outgoing CO, Commander Saiful Hazril bin Ali, RBN, and offering salutations. The ceremony then proceeded with outgoing CO, who served as the 6th CO of KDB DARULEHSAN for three years, delivering a heartfelt farewell speech in which he praised the crew’s growth and proficiency as PV-80 sailors during his tenure as Captain. As he concluded his speech, he announced his new role as the Fleet Chief of Staff, a position in which he would continue to serve the Royal Brunei Navy faithfully. Afterwards, the ceremony followed by the HOTO parchment signing by the outgoing and incoming CO of KDB DARULEHSAN, as well as the exchange of memento gifts.
Stepping into the role as the 7th CO of KDB DARULEHSAN is Lieutenant Commander Awang Mohammad Zulyamin bin Awang Mohammad Noor, RBN, who previously served as the ship’s Executive Officer. In his introductory speech to the crew, the incoming CO echoed with ambition and a deep sense of responsibility, outlining his vision for the future of the ship and emphasizing his commitment to maintaining the vessel’s exceptional standards. He also outlined on enhancing operational capabilities, maintaining competency at all ranks, and prioritizing the well-being and welfare of the crew to foster a healthy ship environment. With the formalities concluded, the ceremony ended with a resounding salute to the incoming CO, symbolizing the acceptance of his authority by the crew. To commemorate the momentous event, a group photo was taken on the forecastle of the ship, displaying the camaraderie shared by the KDB DARULEHSAN’s officers and crew members.
