MUARA, Thursday 14 April 2022 – The Initial Planning Conference (IPC) for Exercise HELANG LAUT 20B/22 was successfully conducted through Video Teleconference (VTC) at the
Bilik Mesyuarat Bendahara Sakam, Royal Brunei Naval Training Centre, Muara. The IPC was hosted by the Royal Brunei Navy as the exercise coordinator for this year’s Exercise HELANG LAUT between Royal Brunei Navy (RBN) and Indonesian Navy (IDN).
The aim of the IPC was to coordinate and plan activities for the upcoming exercise which is planned in November 2022. Additionally, the conference was also aimed to ensure the planned activities are mutually beneficial in terms of training values, fostering the long-standing friendship and cooperation.
Present during the IPC were the RBN officers Lead Team comprising of the Commanding Officer of KDB DARUSSALAM, Cdr Pg Md Faren bin Pg Md Noor as the Chairman along with the Executive Officer of KDB DARUSSALAM, Lt Cdr Ade Roddiane bin Haji Mohd Rosdi as the Exercise Coordinator as well as other RBN fleet officers. IDN delegates were led by Captain Daru Cahyo, Sumirat, Senior Staff Officer for Exercise, IDN. Also joining the conference via VTC were Lt Col Pg Aeddie Masjaffrie bin Pg Hj Md Jaafar, Brunei Darussalam Defence Attache in Republic of Indonesia and Col Arm Doddy Suhardiman, Republic of Indonesia Defence Attache in Brunei Darussalam.
This exercise’s main objectives are to ensure RBN’s dedication in forging bilateral relations with IDN, further strengthening the diplomatic relationship, enhancing mutual co-operation and interoperability through the development of common operational doctrines as well as procedures in naval evolution and maritime tactics. RBN also anticipates consolidating relationship between personnel from the participating ships through interactive social and sports programme depending on COVID-19 restrictions in the future.
