MUARA, Wednesday, 8th December 2021 –
The first Navy to Navy Talks (NTNT) between the Royal Brunei Navy (RBN) and the Royal Australian Navy (RAN) was held virtually at the Multi-National Coordination Centre (MNCC), Muara Naval Base hosted by RAN.
The conference was led by Commander Hj Edy Jofren bin Pehin Datu Panglima Dato Paduka Haji Abdul Jalil, RBN, Assistant Chief of Staff Operations, RBN Headquarters as the Head of Delegation. Representing as RAN, as the Head of Delegation was Captain Ryan Gaskin, RAN, Director of Navy International Engagements.
The NTNT between RBN and RAN was the inaugural meeting between both navies to act as a platform towards the purpose unveiling opportunities to build on the longstanding ties between the two navies and further develop areas of mutual interest. It is a part of the initiatives by both navies to further strengthen long-established bilateral ties. Discussions on strengthening cooperation included capacity building platforms including bilateral exercises, trainings and courses to further engrain mutual confidence on top of existing cooperation between the two navies.
The next series of NTNT between RBN and RAN will be hosted by RBN in 2023.
